Rahul Gandhi will seek re-election from Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency while former Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel is the Congress candidate from Rajnandgaon.
The grand old party has decided to field all its senior leaders in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Accordingly, Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation and Rahul Gandhi's 'Man Friday' KC Venugopal will contest from Alappuzha. He is a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan.
The other prominent faces in the party's first list of 39 candidates also figure Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the big question now is whether Rahul Gandhi will also contest from Amethi, a seat he lost to union minister Smriti Irani after getting elected from there thrice in 2004, 2009 and 2014.
If he sticks to Wayanad only and also if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra doesn't contest from Rae Bareli, it would mean that the Gandhi family has deserted Uttar Pradesh, the epicenter of the Hindi heartland and the road to the Delhi throne.
