Rain Forces Washout in Guwahati, Royals Settle for Third Place

The final league match of IPL 2024 between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati was abandoned due to rain, leaving the Royals in third place on the points table with 17 points. The washout occurred after a delayed toss and no play, as persistent rain thwarted any chance of resumption.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, also with 17 points, secured the second position due to a superior net run-rate after a successful chase against Punjab Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders, topping the table, will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first qualifier on May 21 in Ahmedabad. Rajasthan Royals will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator on May 22, also in Ahmedabad. The washout leaves both KKR and RR with concerns about player readiness, especially with limited game time for some key overseas players.
