It rains a little and the it gets chaotic in Delhi. Yesterday, the he Public Works Department received around 48 complaints related to waterlogging, largely from Zakhira, Rohini and Anand Parbat in North Delhi.
Waterlogging was reported from Mathura Road, Sarai Kale Khan, Dhaula Kuan, Punjabi Bagh, Anand Vihar, Indira Gandhi Stadium and ITO.
Intense spells of rain in several parts of Delhi in the early hours of Wednesday caused waterlogging, traffic snarls and uprooting of trees, even as residents grappled with above-normal humidity levels-100 per cent, as recorded by the India Meteorological Department's Safdarjung base station at 8.30 am.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the national capital till Thursday.
The Safdarjung station recorded 27 mm rainfall between 5.30 am and 8.30 am. The cumulative rainfall logged in other weather stations in 24 hours till 8.30 am Wednesday was 17.8 mm in Palam, 24.2 mm in Lodhi Road, 26.6 mm in Ridge and 14.2 mm in Ayanagar. During the three-hour period between 2.30 am and 5.30 am, the Pusa, Narela, Najafgarh and Pitampura stations reported rain of 10.5 mm, 12.5 mm, 2.5 mm and 1 mm, respectively.
