RAJ KAPOOR was Born as Shrishti Nath Kapoor on 14 Dec. 1924 at Kapoor Haveli in Qissa Khwani Bazaar Peshawar in Punjabi family of KAPOORS Belonging to ‘Dhai Ghar Khatris’. Raj Kapoor was Actor, Director & Producer, considered-Greatest & Most Influential Filmmaker & Greatest Showman of Cinema. He got multiple accolades :3 National Film Awards & 11 Filmfare Awards. Lifetime Achievement Award of Filmfare is named after him, His films, Awaara, Boot Polish, Jagte Raho-competed for Palme d'Or grand prize at Cannes Film Festival. His performance in Awaara was ranked as the "Top-Ten Greatest Performance of All Time in World Cinema. Indian Govt.honoured him with Padma Bhushan & India's Highest Award in Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, was bestowed on him in 1987.

Among all his movies, Awara acquired cult status in Then Soviet Union. In fact Alexander Solzhenitsyn in his book Cancer Ward has the nurse singing ‘Awara Hoon’ and there is a discussion on merits of the movie.
