Hojlund has been handed the No.9 shirt at Manchester United ahead of his second full season with the Red Devils. The Denmark international wore the No.11 during his debut campaign, following his move from Atalanta, but has now taken over the No.9 after Anthony Martial's exit.
Hojlund got off to a slow start to his Red Devils career but ended his first season with 16 goals in all competitions and an FA Cup winner's medal. United will be hoping for many more goals from Hojlund next season in his new No.9 shirt which has previously been worn by club favourites such as Sir Bobby Charlton, Brian McClair, Andy Cole, Dimitar Berbatov and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The arrival of legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as part of the team's coaching staff may also help Hojlund boost his numbers in the new campaign.
Hojlund vacant No.11 shirt is expected to be handed to new signing Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch star has already spoken about potential squad numbers in a chat with YouTube show Supergraande: "That depends a bit on Rasmus Hojlund," he said. "He’s already there and he’s also a striker. No.9 is free, but yeah… He has 11, so I can imagine that he wants No.9 now. In that case I’ll take 11."
