Finally the truck drivers can breathe in these summers !!
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved the draft notification mandating the installation of air-conditioning systems in the cabins of trucks belonging to categories N2 and N3.
In a tweet, Gadkari highlighted the crucial role of truck drivers in ensuring road safety and stated that this decision aims to provide comfortable working conditions, improve efficiency, and address driver fatigue.
While the announcement doesn't mention the rollout deadline, Gadkari previously shared plans for all trucks to have air-conditioned driver compartments starting in 2025.
The move is part of his efforts to reduce logistic costs and enhance export competitiveness through improved infrastructure.
Industry estimates suggest an additional cost of ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 per truck for installing AC cabins.
