Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen and Ven Geshe Tenzin Namdol Rinpoche from the Office of Tibet in Taiwan attended the Gelug Monlam Chenmo (the great prayer festival) in Taipei and made an offering of the mandala.
From August 4 to August 6, 2023, Taiwan Gelug Buddhist Association organised a three-day prayer festival for world peace, which was presided over by Sharpa Choeje Jetsun Lobsang Dorjee. The former abbot of Gaden Shartse, Jangchup Choedhen Rinpoche, and abbot of Rato Monastery, Geshe Sonam Gyaltsen, who came from India and South Kore, respectively, also made their gracious presence at the prayer festival.
This year’s Gelug Monlam Chenmo in Taiwan is the third of its kind and was attended by 300 monks consisting of 150 from Tibetan Buddhist schools and the other half from Chinese Buddhist schools, along with several devotees.
Gaden Tri Rinpoche, Sharpa Choeje, and Jangtse Choeje honoured the first two Gelug Monlam Chenmo in Taiwan, which was disrupted by the Covid pandemic in between.
