According to a new poll, Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, has the support of 54 percent of Republicans for the 2024 election.
A poll by the New York Times and the Sinai College Research Center shows that he is far ahead of his Republican rivals.
This report was published in the New York Times on Monday (31 July) and it states that 54 percent of those who participated in this survey said that they support Trump in the upcoming elections.
Trump's closest Republican challenger is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has the support of only 17 percent of Republicans.
According to this survey, none of the five other Republicans who have announced their readiness to run for the next presidential election have more than three percent of Republicans' support.
The New York Times wrote in its report on this survey that Mike Pence, the vice president during the Trump era, as well as Nikki Haley, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, are each approved by only three percent of Republicans.
About 69 percent of those polled said Mr. Trump was a "strong leader," and 67 percent said he was fulfilling his responsibilities. Also, 58 believe that he can defeat Joe Biden, the current president and candidate of the Democratic Party in the upcoming elections.
Therefore, the Republicans who participated in this poll believe that in the next election, Donald Trump will be the main rival of Joe Biden.
