Rest in peace 🙏
I remember the first day I met Arun RS.He was wearing a formal trouser, white shirt tucked in with a broad leather belt.
He spoke so animatedly about everything, including politics. He spoke so vividly and pointedly. Coming from a political family, politics was in his blood..
Arun and Meera, who he married later, walking together on Mar Ivanios campus is still so fresh in my mind.
We all worked together in student politics. Fun, frolic, love, fights, fictionalism. But Arun was so dedicated to the cause he believed in. He seemed rigid, but he often melted like a slab of butter.
Years later, I used to ask him why are you still passionate about things that we did in our youth. That those things from another era and things have changed so much since then.
Then, that was Arun. He could hardly forget things.
Nor could he forgive things that I think he should have.
But he moved on as part of growing up, as a father of two talented boys, as someone who was willing to learn from life things he thought was important to learn.
But he remained the same at the core.
When Arun calls on phone, most calls willl develop into a group call. So intense were still his arguments. He would prefer to say discussions. Dear Arun, this is no age to go. Then we can't argue on this. Death is a certainty and not a matter of debate.
Rest in Peace, dear Arun.
