This is so sad. The world lost him too soon. RIP.🙏
His work was unflinchingly brave. Many Indians remember all of these photos.
I never met Danish Siddiqui, but I felt I knew him through his photography.
From the CAA protests to the Delhi riots, and from the migrant crisis to the farmers agitation, the photographs he clicked dominated front pages, defined news cycles, and were the lasting memories of the turbulent times we live in.
He was awarded a Pulitzer for his outstanding work covering the Rohingya crisis.
And his haunting pictures of the covid second wave in May, taken at great personal risk, showed to the world the true extent of the crisis in India.
At a time when Indian journalism is plumbing new depths daily, he stood out as a rare gem, elevating the level of news photography in the country, bringing it on par with the global best.
Danish died today in Kandahar while on assignment.
RIP Danish. You will be missed.
