According to sources, Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez is still the subject of strong interest from Saudi Pro League team Al Ahli.
The 32-year-old Algerian international faced reduced playing time towards the end of the 2022/23 season and was disappointed to be left on the bench for Manchester City's victories in the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
Previous reports from 90min indicated that Mahrez had been in contact with Al Ahli in late June, and the Saudi club is reportedly willing to offer him a salary of £45 million per year. Mahrez is said to be open to the move.
However, Manchester City remains reluctant to part ways with Mahrez, particularly due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of midfielder Bernardo Silva. Silva has expressed his desire to leave the club this summer, and Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly interested in signing him.
In addition to Mahrez, Al Ahli is also reportedly targeting out-of-favour Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte. Although Laporte has attracted interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in Europe, no substantial offers have been received by Manchester City. As a result, the club is reportedly open to selling Laporte to interested Saudi Arabian clubs, with Al Ahli being a potential destination.
