Ahead of the Test series against England, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma shed light on the team's strategy, Virat Kohli's absence, and the inclusion of Rajat Patidar in the squad.

Banking on spinners for the series against England, Rohit emphasized the importance of premier batters stepping up in Virat Kohli's absence during the first two Tests. Kohli has opted out for personal reasons and will be available for selection from the third Test onward.

To bolster the batting lineup, Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar has been included in the squad for the first two Tests based on his impressive performances for India A against England Lions. Patidar, who played for RCB in the IPL, showcased his skills with a brilliant knock of 151 runs against England Lions.

Rohit expressed confidence in the spinners' ability to perform on turning pitches, and he highlighted the team's reliance on experienced batters, including Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, to fill the void left by Kohli's absence.

The first Test between India and England is set to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
