Rohit Shetty on Bollywood's Box Office Slump and Hope for "Singham Again"

Rohit Shetty, the acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker known for his big-budget blockbusters, remains optimistic despite the industry's recent box office struggles. In a recent interview, Shetty emphasized that Bollywood's poor performance in 2024 is merely a phase, and attention should be given to the films that have succeeded. He highlighted the commercial triumphs of movies like "Pathaan," "Jawan," "Gadar 2," and "Oh My God 2" as examples of continued audience engagement.

Shetty is hopeful about his upcoming film, "Singham Again," which is set to release on November 1, during Diwali. This third installment in the "Singham" series, featuring Ajay Devgn, aims to bring joy to audiences, similar to the success of "Sooryavanshi" post-COVID-19. Shetty, while acknowledging the cyclical nature of the film industry's success, insists that each film should be evaluated on its own merits, regardless of genre.

"Singham Again" expands Shetty's cop universe, integrating characters from his previous films like "Simmba" and "Sooryavanshi." The film promises star-studded appearances from Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Deepika Padukone. Shetty also noted the increasing reliance on CGI for safety and cost efficiency in stunt sequences.

In addition to his film work, Shetty will return as the host of "Khatron Ke Khiladi" season 14, premiering on Colors TV from July 27.
