Rugby League News: Wigan Warriors take one-year option on Abbas Miski.
Wigan Warriors have taken the extra year option on Abbas Miski to keep him at the club until the end of 2024.
The Lebanese international has made 22 appearances for the club, has scored in his last six games, and got Pixstory Man of the Match in last night’s win over Huddersfield Giants.
Miski spoke to the club’s website and said ‘he’s really enjoying his time’ at Wigan. He said: “I’m really delighted to have sorted out the one-year option. I’m really enjoying my time here with the club.”
“It’s a fantastic place to be with a great coaching team and some superb friendships. I look forward to achieving something with the club this year and enjoying my time.”
Head Coach Matt Peet also commented on the announcement saying: “Abbas has made this an easy decision for us. His form on the field has been outstanding and is the result of his hard work and dedication.”
This news was also teased last night as when asked in the post-match press conference about Miski, Peet didn’t know what he was allowed to say. He said: “I just don’t know what I should say, I’ll just not make a comment because I don’t know what we are announcing and when, but I’d really like him to stay at Wigan”.
But the fact this wasn’t a surprise, doesn’t mean this isn’t a brilliant bit of business for the Warriors on the back of signing Kruise Leeming on a four-year contract and Sam Walters and Tiaki Chan both on three-year contracts at the start of last week for the 2024 season.
