Runners all set to experience the glorious legacy of Rajasthan’s ancient Pink City

The lush green field of India’s oldest existing football club ‘Union Football Club Jaipur’ – established on April 9, 1889 – will host the runners from North India, who will be experiencing the glorious legacy of Rajasthan’s ancient Pink City during the Tuffman Jaipur 10k run on Sunday.

Over 1500 runners are participating in the inaugural edition of the Tuffman's run in Jaipur. The event is powered by Indian Oil.

The run will Flag off from the ground of Union Football Club Jaipur. The circuit will move along with the Ram Niwas Bagh – located at the heart of the city, built by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh of Jaipur in 1868 – to a crossing housing an equestrian statue of Sawai Man Singh II – the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur.

The route will further introduce the runners to an Indo-Saracenic architecture building ‘Albert Hall’. It takes you to the British Empire era. It was during the visit of Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert in 1876, when the city was painted pink and got its name as the ‘Pink City’ and that time only its foundation stone was laid. It’s the oldest museum in the state.

From Albert Hall, the runners will cross the Shaheed Samark circle – memorial, featuring statues of soldiers, Gandhi circle and take a U-turn from Smriti van.

The route will also see the runners crossing the Birla Mandir and Rajasthan University.

Apart from the 10 km timed run, there is a 5km timed run and 3km fun run. The run, powered by Indian Oil, is promoting Go Green.

“For quite some time we were planning to organize a run in Jaipur and finally it’s taking place. We are happy to see the overwhelming response of the runners and a figure touching 1500 mark in the inaugural edition is really encouraging for us,” says Sanjay Mangla, himself an ultra runner and founder of Tuffman. “Hope the runners will enjoy the circuit that will take them to the heritage and glorious legacy of Jaipur. The run is taking place at the heart of the Pink City.”
