After a successful six-year stint with Liverpool, Sadio Mane took on a new challenge by joining Bayern Munich.
However, the move to the Bundesliga didn't go as planned for the Senegal international. He struggled to secure a regular position in the starting lineup and failed to reach the form that made him one of the best players in the world during his time at Anfield.
Last season, Mane faced injury issues and only started 18 times in the Bundesliga, scoring just seven goals. Bayern didn't directly replace Robert Lewandowski when he left for Barcelona, and Mane was often deployed as a forward, but he couldn't meet the high expectations.
His frustrations boiled over in April when he got involved in a confrontation with teammate Leroy Sane during a Champions League game against Manchester City, leading to a fine and suspension.
Thomas Tuchel, who took over as Bayern's manager in March, acknowledged that Mane fell short of expectations and highlighted the intense competition for starting positions in the squad.
Due to his disappointing first season, Mane's future at Bayern has become uncertain. The club is reportedly seeking a new destination for him, with the Saudi Pro League emerging as a potential option, given limited interest from European teams.
As of June, the 31-year-old was not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia and declined talks. However, Al-Ettifaq, managed by former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, has expressed interest in signing Mane.
