Samsung has recently launched the October 2023 security update for the factory-unlocked Galaxy S23 series in the United States, following its recent release for international variants. This update is expected to be the final minor software update before the much-anticipated stable Android 14 update, slated for release later this month.
The latest security patch, identified as firmware version S91xU1UES1AWIF, addresses various vulnerabilities present in the previous software version. The update is now accessible across all major carrier networks in the US, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket, DISH, Sprint, Tracfone, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.
For users of the factory-unlocked Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, or Galaxy S23 Ultra, the update can be accessed by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, users can manually download the firmware file from Samsung’s firmware database and flash it onto their devices.
Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series, featuring the Android 13-based One UI 5.1 software. The company is committed to providing four major Android OS updates for these smartphones, with the highly anticipated Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update set to be released later this month or early next month.
With the release of seven Android 14 (One UI 6.0) beta updates for the Galaxy S23 series globally, it is anticipated that Samsung will conclude the One UI 6.0 Beta Program and release the stable Android 14 update in the coming days. As per Samsung's usual beta and stable update schedule, the stable Android 14 update is expected to begin rolling out in multiple countries by the end of this month.
