Samuel Brinton, the now-former non-binary Biden administration official at the Department of Energy (DOE), has reportedly left the agency. The DOE confirmed that Brinton "is no longer a DOE employee," but did not provide any details about the circumstances of their departure. Brinton had been charged with theft of luggage from two different airports.
Brinton had been serving as the DOE's deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition since June. In September, police accused Brinton of stealing a suitcase worth $2,325, and then another bag worth $3,670 at in Las Vegas in July. If convicted, Brinton could face up to 10 years in prison for the alleged crimes.
The Biden administration should be embarrassed at the fact that they have appointed someone who is a habitual thief and visibly has a mental illness. This is gross behavior that is unbecoming of a federal official and it is sad that the administration is seeking to normalize it.
