“Hell hath no fury like a ‘politician’ scorned”, with due apologies to William Shakespeare.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik continues to be annoyed and angry with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the last political party he was in. This was his sixth political party. Earlier he had been with five other political parties which included the Bharatiya Kranti Dal, the Janata Dal, the Congress, the Lok Dal and the Samajwadi Party. He remained quite loyal to the BJP till he remained the Governor of Goa. After being shifted to Meghalaya, he started realizing that the BJP was not the right party and blamed it for one thing or the other and continues to do that even now.
He vented his ire and grievances during the farmers’ agitation. Despite being the Governor of Meghalaya, he criticized three central farm laws. His criticism was vituperative and even devoid of facts. He even quoted the Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrongly, rather shamelessly. He retracted the statement in an interview recently saying, what he had attributed to Shah was factually incorrect. Imagine someone holding a gubernatorial position and lying willfully and then shamelessly admitting to it and retracting it after two years.
Should such a man be trusted for what he is saying about the events and incidents, which took place four years ago, when he has admitted in the same interview that he lied in public and that too about what the Union Home Minister had never said? It is surprising as to why the government of India did not sack him over such a serious lie, from his own admission. Hats off to the Home Minister Amit Shah for overlooking such a grave indiscretion, which could have serious political implications. Apparently having got away with one lie, Malik is trying to speak other lies as well.
