The Delhi border is under high security as the Delhi Police have instructed their officers to closely monitor the Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur borders, as well as railway stations, metro stations, and bus stands, after protesting farmers announced that they would reach Delhi for their agitation on Wednesday.
"Tomorrow, on March 6, farmers from all over India will march peacefully towards Jantar Mantar in Delhi," Farmer leader Tejveer Singh said on Tuesday.
"We had temporally removed barriers for commuters at the Singhu and the Tikri borders. The deployment of police and paramilitary personnel is still there and (they) will ensure strict, round-the-clock vigil," a senior police officer was quoted saying by PTI. According to the officer, additional police and paramilitary forces have already been deployed at railway and metro stations and bus stands.
On March 3, farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal gave a call to farmers across the nation to reach Delhi on Wednesday for a protest. They also called for a four-hour nationwide rail blockade on March 10 to support their demands, which include a legal guarantee for minimum support prices on crops.
