He has been recognised as India's patent king by The Wall Street Journal because of his extreme focus on innovation and research, which has resulted in the highest number of patents in the country - 55 patents around his various diagnostic solutions. He continues to actively head the R&D division, constantly fuelling innovation in the sector. His immense entrepreneurial and leadership skills led him to establish J. Mitra & Co. in 1969 .
