Signing On-Hold: Update from Dortmund CEO as Guirassy Fails Medical Test!
Borussia Dortmund have put on hold the signing of Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy due to a knee injury discovered during his medical. Initial estimates suggest he could be out for four weeks to three months. The club will decide on the transfer once a specialist provides a more accurate recovery timeframe. CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has commented on the matter.
Talking to Bild, Watzke said, "We didn't know about it. Serhou Guirassy probably didn't even know himself what had happened. If it's something in the knee, you need a specialist's opinion, anything else would be negligent. We all agreed that a specialist should look at it again. At the moment, everyone involved is still keen, But, Of course we need a reasonable statement about the nature of the injury."
Borussia Dortmund had agreed to pay €18m to Stuttgart for Guirassy. The striker 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances for his club last season and finished second, behind Harry Kane in the league's top scorers chart.
