So many more people are concerned about their baby being too cold but what is actually a real concern is baby overheating. Overheating increases the risk of SIDS (amongst other things). This is absolutely something we can control. So how do we know if baby is too hot? Babies heat up quicker than adults, so remember that when grandmas is putting on hat, coat, socks and 3 blankets for the 11am nap. They are also not able to cool down as quickly as us, so the best thing we can do is manage their tempertaure for them. Anything over 38 degrees is not ok. A baby's temperature range is between 36.5c and 37.4c. If you notice these signs then try and cool baby down by removing layers (NEVER PUT A HAT ON BABY TO SLEEP) and if needed you can apply a cool compress to the back of their neck or their limbs whilst keeping them hydrated with feeds. If you are worried it is more than just being a bit warm then don't hesitate to take you little one to get checked asap.
