At a brief handing-over ceremony held on Wednesday, Sonam Wangdue assumed the charge of the settlement office of Kamrao from the outgoing settlement officer Rabten Tsering.

Settlement officer Gelek Jamyang of Poanta Cholsum was appointed by the Department of Home to administer the oath of the newly appointed settlement officer.

Following the ceremony, both the outgoing and the new settlement officers addressed the Tibetan community.

The new Settlement Officer emphasised general public to keep strict vigilant like encroaching other business place/area, creating disharmony among the Tibetans as such had happened long back in the past. He added “Since the season is drawing near, everyone should bear in mind that peace and harmony among coworkers, business partners, friends, and local consumers should be prioritised”.

Thereafter, the representative of Home Department, Settlement Officer Gelek Jamyang, briefed the handing and taking-over process in his address.
