Spain see out Germany

It was the clash of the two best sides in the tournament - a match that was probably worthy of the final. It delivered on it's billing but what it meant was that hosts Germany had to exit the tournament prematurely.

It was a scrappy first half and that was the tone till the end of extra time. Substitute Dani Olmo gave Spain the lead and it looked like they had done enough but Florian Wirtz had other ideas. The 21 year's old fantastic finish in the 91st minute forced the game into extra time.

With basically the last touch of the football before penalties, Mikel Merino jumped highest to head it in and break German hearts.
