In Yesterday's Asia Cup 2023 match, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets via DLS in a rain-affected match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and qualified for the Asia Cup 2023 Final. The Sri Lankan cricket team won the game on the last ball of the match and chased down the target of 252 for the loss of eight wickets and knocked Pakistan out of the continental competition.
Pakistan - who made five changes to their playing eleven in the must-win game - posted a decent 252 for the loss of seven wickets in 42 overs as Mohammed Rizwan smashed a 73-ball 86 and shared a century stand with Iftikhar Ahmed (47 off 40 balls). Opener Abdullah Shafeeq slammed a gritty half-century.
Sri Lankan right-arm pacer Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers for his team as he bagged three wickets against Pakistan but leaked too many runs (3/65 from 8 overs) as well.
In reply, Sri Lanka reached home on the final ball of the 42nd over as Charith Asalanka (49*) took the winning double for his team and helped them secure an ODI win over Pakistan for the first time since 2015.
Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka was awarded the player of the match for his batting effort (91) in run chase. He, however, missed out on a deserving third ODI century.
Which team will win the final match??
