Stipe Miocic explains why booking a fight with Jon Jones became a "pain in the a**": "People don't get it."
Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight title for the first time against Stipe Miocic, the best heavyweight of all time. The two are definitely going to fight at UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden at the end of the year. This is a matchup that many people are looking forward to.At UFC 285, 'Bones' fought Ciryl Gane after taking a three-year break from the sport. Jones beat his opponent in the first round and became a winner in two different categories.
After Jon Jones beat Gane by submit, there were rumours that he and Stipe Miocic would fight at UFC 290. Both men seemed sure that they would fight in July. But there was a delay because of a problem with the talks. The fight will now take place at UFC 295.
Before his fight with Jones, Miocic recently talked to Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith. Smith asked the former champion if setting up the fight was "a pain in the a**." The former champion said:
"Ahhhhh there were moments... We'll talk off camera... The first time [the UFC] asked I said, 'Not right now, I can't.' I told them I could do it a few weeks later but they said no. Other things came up. People don't understand that there's a lot more to it than me not trying to fight..."
