There are a multitude of reasons why your baby may wake frequently overnight, but we need to stop normalising hourly night wakes for extended periods of time. Hourly wakes typically point to something being "off".

It means there is something preventing bub from getting into and staying asleep. Hourly wakes CAN and DO happen and are completely nothing to worry about - baby sleep cycles are approximately 45-60min day and night therefore it is not uncommon to see babies who are unwell, teething, over tired, hungry and of course newborns with day night confusion waking hourly. If you're experiencing hourly wakes for an EXTENDED period of time, it's important to speak to your trusted medical professional as some of the more common causes are;

- Allergies / Intolerances
- Reflux
- Sleep disorders
- Enlarged adenoids / tonsils
- Ties
