The students of the National Music Institute of Afghanistan, which is now based in Portugal, are going to hold a joint concert with German and Iranian artists in the city of Bonn.
Ahmed Sarmast, the head of this institute, said that this concert will be held from September 9 to 16.
Mr. Sarmast wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday night : "I am happy to maintain the Afghan National Institute of Music despite all the challenges and maintain the position of this institution as the voice of the Afghan people on international stages."
With the Taliban regaining control in Afghanistan on 15 August 2021 , the students of the National Music Institute of Afghanistan took refuge in Portugal.
Deutsche Welle English wrote in a report that about 270 students and faculty members of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music are in Portugal.
Shabana, one of the institute's musicians, told DW that when the Taliban returned to Afghanistan, her life changed and "it was a nightmare."
The Taliban consider listening to music "forbidden" and in the past two years, the group's well-known officials have banned citizens from playing and listening to music in many cases.
Mr. Sarmast also said that the children of Afghanistan National Institute of Music consider themselves cultural ambassadors of this country. According to him, following the ban on music by the Taliban, Afghanistan has fallen into silence.
The head of Afghanistan's National Institute of Music said that he hoped to create lasting changes in Afghanistan by launching projects like "Zohreh Orchestra" where all the musicians are girls. "I still have this hope," Mr. Sarmast said. "Since the Taliban will not last forever and should not last forever."
The musicians of Afghanistan's National Institute of Music are going to perform together with the musicians of Germany's Junan National Orchestra and Iranian musicians living abroad in a concert called "Campus Project".
