Sumit Nagal becomes most expensive player at Tennis Premier League season five auction.
The fifth season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) saw eight franchises assemble competitive rosters at the auction held in Mumbai. India's No. 1 player, Sumit Nagal, became the most expensive pick, joining Gujarat Panthers for Rs 18.5 lakhs. Gujarat also signed Karman Kaur Thandi and Mukund Sasikumar. Defending champions Hyderabad Strikers picked Ellen Perez for Rs 14 lakhs and retained Nikki Poonacha. Bengaluru SG Mavericks acquired Arina Rodionova for Rs 17.1 lakhs, making her the most expensive female player. The Pune Jaguars added Lukas Rosol and Rutuja Bhosale, while Delhi Binny’s Brigade signed Dennis Novak. Punjab Tigers secured Conny Perrin and top Indian talents. Last season’s finalists, Mumbai Leon Army, picked Ernest Gulbis, while the new team Bengal Wizards signed Maria Timofeeva for Rs 15.5 lakhs.
