Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the Taliban's Minister for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, has accused the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) of releasing biased and unrealistic reports. Hanafi demanded that UNAMA share its reports with the Taliban ministry before making them public. This comes after UNAMA's recent report highlighted arbitrary detentions of women in Kabul and Daikundi by the Taliban for non-compliance with enforced hijab rules. The report also expressed concerns about alleged monetary demands for the release of detained girls.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has previously denied arbitrary detentions, insisting their actions are lawful under Islamic Sharia. UNAMA has not responded to the Taliban's statements. Critics argue that UNAMA is downplaying Taliban human rights violations and promoting international engagement with the group.
