“The Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Women Activists was supposed to address a press conference about the Taliban’s Amir al-Mu’minin’s recent order regarding Afghan women, but the Taliban threatened to cancel the program,” Wahida Amiri, an organizer of the program, said on Saturday. “The Taliban called up the person in charge of the book fair – where the press conference was expected to be held – and told him that if he does not cancel the program, he will face the consequences, threatening him they will close the book fair and imprison him,” she added.
The Spontaneous Movement of Afghan Women Activists announced earlier that they will express their stance about the order of Taliban leader on women’s rights and present a report about the Taliban interim government’s 100-day plans during a press conference in capital Kabul.
