Black Panther: Wakanda Forever easily maintained its position at the top of the box office rankings in its fifth weekend, taking in $11.1 million to become only the third movie of 2022 to surpass $400 million domestically.
Hollywood Reporter said that the domestic total for the Marvel and Disney film is at $409.8 million, while the domestic total for the film is $767.8 million. It will shortly surpass fellow 2022 Marvel/Disney film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($411.3 million), which currently holds the second-highest domestic box office position in North America, after Top Gun: Maverick ($718.1 million).
It will shortly surpass DC's The Batman to win the No. 5 spot worldwide for the year ($770.8 million).
Otherwise, it was a dismal weekend. Overall ticket sales came in at an estimated $37 million, the second-worst showing of the year after the Jan. 28-30 weekend ($34.9 million), according to Comscore.
