All major political parties have made many promises and announcements for the Tea Tribes and Ex Tea tribes of Assam before the state Assembly Elections. These tribes were brought to the state in the year 1820 and after, from different states, to work in Assam's tea gardens. In their original states, they belonged to tribes like Santhal, Oraon, Munda etc. But even after 200 years, they continue to fight for their identity and constitutional rights in the state of Assam.
