#ucc is not constitutional
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has rejected the Supreme Court's decision on granting alimony to divorced Muslim women. The AIMPLB has come out openly against this decision of the Supreme Court. The board has termed the decision as completely unacceptable, calling it against Muslim Personal Law and fundamental rights. The board has passed a resolution against the decision and the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand and has announced to fight a legal battle. All 51 members were present in the board meeting held on Sunday. Board spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas said that there was a long discussion on Muslim women alimony and Uttarakhand UCC in the meeting. After this, it was decided to make every possible effort to get the decision related to alimony withdrawn by passing a resolution. In the meeting, there was a consensus on knocking the doors of the court to stop UCC, considering it against Muslim Personal Law and Sharia. The Supreme Court's decision is going to create a conflict with Sharia law. Just as there is a Hindu Code Bill for Hindus, Muslims are bound by Sharia law in the same way. It is a fundamental right to live life according to religion. This decision taken in the name of women's welfare will not benefit women, but will harm them
