It’s funny, the moment Trump threatens to impose tariffs on nations, the left goes up in arms, pointing out how tariffs raise costs and how they’re bad policy.

But here’s the thing they never realize — or maybe they do but just don’t want to admit - it’s not about the tariffs, it’s about the threat of them.

Trump recently announced that he would impose a 25% tariff of Mexican imported goods if they didn’t stop the flow of illegal immigration, to which the left predictably went crazy over, talking about how it was bad economic policy. Now, today, the president of Mexico has agreed to end the migration of people from Mexico to the United States, clearly because of that tariff threat.

You see, this is the problem with the leftwing media. They are so narrow minded that they can’t wrap their heads around the concept of a negotiation tactic. Trump knows that U.S./Mexico trade accounts for a major part of Mexico’s economy. Threaten that, and, like clockwork, they’ll give in.
