The bill to grant citizenship to Afghan immigrants was presented to the Congress of this country by the United States
According to the Reuters news agency, with the approval of this bill, a path will be created to obtain US citizenship for Afghan immigrants who have temporary asylum.
The bill also eases Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) requirements and would include those who fought alongside US forces as commandos and Air Force personnel, and women who served in counter-terrorism special teams.
Many of the 76,000 Afghans removed in last year's evacuation operation have entered the United States on humanitarian parole; A temporary immigration status that usually only lasts up to two years
If the bill passes, those evacuees will be allowed to apply for citizenship
