On investigation, we found very low levels of vitamin d (just 13.6), b12 (188) and ferritin. his celiac markers were negative, but the anti-gliadin antibodies were borderline positive, suggesting a non-celiac wheat sensitivity. His mother, who had accompanied her son and wanted to achieve weight loss, also tested positive for anti-gliadin antibodies. Her celiac markers too were negative. She hadn’t reported the fact that he was sitting and studying for hours, because they hadn’t correlated this change with the diet. he soon went on to write his own board exams and secured 84 per cent. unreal! After eight to ten years, he continues to remain diligent about dietary compliance. He now looks like a model and has gained the confidence to be a public speaker. He spoke in our Celiac society meeting and said he’d never imagined speaking in public. Both he and his mother welled up. A life transformed!
