As clear an indication as any that its best is behind it. Investors have suspected so for some time, the share price has been hammered for months now.

To be sure, the Meta empire is still a force to be reckoned with. The power, influence and ubiquity of Instagram and WhatsApp is still intact.

But the Facebook decline is well and truly under way.
