The fire in the Kunar forests of Afghanistan "continues" since yesterday.
A fire started in the forests of Kunar province in eastern Afghanistan since yesterday and according to local Taliban officials, it is still going on.
Bakhtar state news agency quoted Ehsanullah, head of Kunar disaster prevention, as reporting that "yesterday's fire broke out in Sundri and Karangal forests of Dera Pich district of Kunar province, which is still ongoing, as a result of which 14 hectares and 80 acres of forest and grassland were destroyed. It's gone."
He added that the people of the region are trying to control the fire, but they have not managed to control the fire yet. Strong wind and high temperatures in this area caused the fire to spread to many other areas. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Kunar is one of the forest areas in eastern Afghanistan.
