Every year on June 21st, music lovers come together to celebrate World Music Day. This beautiful occasion transcends borders, cultures, and languages, uniting people through the universal language of music.
A day dedicated to an art form that is omnipresent in our lives and connects us to individuals around the globe... Count me in!
Music has the ability to make one smile on a gloomy day and feel emotions one could not even think were possible. One witnesses the power of harmonies and melodies, which constantly remind us of the immense impact music has on our lives.
World Music Day, popularly known as Fête de la Musique, originated in France in 1982 and has since spread to over 120 countries. The day encourages both amateur and professional musicians to perform in public spaces, transforming streets, parks, and squares into stages and filling the air with beautiful melodies.
As a music enthusiast, it is extremely difficult to pick a particular genre. I am a huge fan of international music, as it exposes me to different cultures, languages, and musical traditions.
Through artists from diverse backgrounds, I get to explore a vast array of styles, from K-pop to French folk rock (& old Bollywood, of course), and everything in between.
On this World Music Day, I invite you to share your favourite music. Whether it's classical, jazz, hip-hop, or folk, every genre has its own magic.
Music has the remarkable ability to inspire, heal, and bring people together. So, let us unite through our shared love for melodies and rhythms and celebrate the incredible gift of music on this day!
