The January 6th Committee has finally reached its conclusion and has made four criminal referrals to the Department of Justice against Donald Trump for his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 election. These charges include obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress, conspiracy to defraud the United States, inciting or assisting an insurrection, and conspiracy to make false statements.
Trump's actions on January 6th were clearly criminal. Despite the many baseless allegations of criminal conduct against Trump during and after his presidency, the evidence against him for contributing to the riot at the Capitol is undeniable. The events of that day were witnessed by millions of people, and it is clear that Trump played a significant role in inciting the chaos that ensued.
It is imperative that those who break the law be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their status or political beliefs. Should Trump's role in the January 6th riot be ignored? What should be the consequences for his actions ?While it remains to be seen whether or not the DOJ will take action, it is clear that Trump's actions on that day was beneath the office of a sitting president. Would you vote to indict him ?
