Presenting Symptoms;

• adult acne since the age of forty-three, hair fall
• high blood pressure
• diabetes
• Incontinence
• Varicose veins

Bloodwork showed elevated Crp (11) and blood sugar levels, normal hb but low vitamin d. Inflammatory grains were removed from her diet and within the first weight loss of just 2 kg, she found herself able to walk without support. Within a month, she was so comfortable that she began taking on new work projects. Over a period of eighteen months, she lost a staggering 37 kg, to reach 77 kg. her diabetes medication was reduced and then stopped. For four years, she also avoided knee surgery. she finally had the knee operation but continues to maintain her diet and weight loss regimen.

The lady with hypoglycaemia

Ms h., just thirty-four, came five years ago with severe digestive issues. she was obese (92 kg) and her blood sugar levels would plummet; when she ate anything sweet, she would begin shivering and have to rush to the loo. she was also on medication for her thyroid.

Presenting Symptoms;

• high blood pressure, fatty liver grade 2, acne, hair fall, migraine and vertigo
• severe reactive hypoglycemia
• acid reflux, sleep apnea
• heavy bleeding in menses

Her tests showed high creatinine levels, low haemoglobin (11.1), an elevated Crp (9.9) and her blood sugar was over 100. her ferritin levels were very low (19). The celiac markers were negative. We modified her diet, removing inflammatory grains but working with her took time as she didn’t keep to the diet; she would contaminate it by eating foods that contained gluten. part of the reason was that she had several doctors in her family, who would question whether diet could help resolve any of her issues. But she began to lose weight (she’s now 69 kg). she’s committed to the dietary change, having seen the benefit. her blood markers have all normalized and the hypoglycemia has resolved. In fact, she had an eight- year-old child who had severe anxiety, tics, involuntary jerking and weakness.
