Afghanistan's national volleyball team traveled to Iran to participate in the Asian Championship volleyball competition. In this tournament, Afghanistan is in the fifth group with the teams of Qatar and India. These competitions will be held in the city of Urmia, Iran, with the participation of 18 Asian teams from 19th August to 26th August 2023.

A total of 45 matches will be held in these matches. The teams are grouped into six groups to face each other in the group stage. At the end of this stage, the first and second teams of the group (12 teams in total) advance to the elimination stage. The top teams will compete with the second teams of each group by drawing lots.

After ten years, the Afghanistan national volleyball team is participating in the 22nd Asian Men's Volleyball Championship.

The volleyball teams of Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Bahrain and Pakistan have rest from the five groups on the first day of this competition.

The past 21 editions of Asian Men's Volleyball Championship have been hosted by 12 countries, Iran is at the top of this table with five hosts (1999, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023) and South Korea is in second place with three hosts.

The countries of Australia, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia are also in the third place with two hosts. Also, the countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, China, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates also hosted the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship once.
