Wow
The Paris City Hall is an architectural and historical masterpiece. This iconic building has a rich and fascinating history, as well as spectacular architecture that catches the eyes of all visitors.
The Paris City Hall has a rich and complex history, dating back over 600 years. Originally built in 1357, it was rebuilt in 1874, following its near destruction during the Paris Commune.
The City Hall was rebuilt in a neo-Renaissance style with its majestic towers and carved façade. Its interior is richly decorated. It is even said to be more luxurious than the Palais de l'Elysée which houses the President of the Republic. So, in France, if you like luxury, it is better to be mayor of Paris than President of France.
City Hall Square is a lively and vibrant place, full of life and energy. It is a gathering place for Parisians and tourists alike, who come to enjoy the entertainment, shows and festivals that take place here throughout the year. It's also a great place to take souvenir photos, with its elegant architecture
Before it was called the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, the square was known as the Place de Grève. It was here that assassins were publicly executed, including Ravaillac, the murderer of King Henri IV or even 180 years later Charlotte Corday who had assassinated Marat one of the leaders of the French Revolution.
