The Philippines hosts the third largest Muslim population in Southeast Asia.  Despite this, the Philippines has found room for improvement in its Halal offerings.

Halal is the Muslim equivalent of the Jewish Kosher.  Halal foods must conform to Islamic law for what is ok to eat and follow certain ritualistic steps to be certified as Halal.

Last year, the Philippines was recognized with the Emerging Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year award at the Halal in Travel Global Summit held in Singapore.

The Philippines plans to double the number of Halal certified hotels and restaurants by 2028.
