The Recruit should win an award. It's by far one of the best shows that has ever been on Netflix. It all starts with a charismatic and handsome fledgling CIA Lawyer named Owen Hendrix, played by Noah Centineo.
He's meant to have a desk job but gets drawn deeper and deeper into the world of espionage due to his genius quick- thinking ability to think outside of the box, go above and beyond, and get himself out of sticky situations. He's like a noble Knight who manages to stay alive as he helps a beautiful Russian spy, Max, played by Laura Haddock, to become an asset for the CIA.
She cleaves to the help of her handsome Knight even though she's far from noble. She's like an evil James Bond, who has a license to kill, and can fight her way out of sticky situations, but one never knows what side she's truly on.
Noah gave an Oscar-winning performance on this other level. He's my Actor of the Year by far. He infused so much natural style and charm into playing Owen so convincingly which makes it astonishing that it's all make-believe. During dramatic scenes, there's nothing but truth within his eyes that presents a reality that is 101% convincing.
The whole cast was great including Janus Ferber a hyper- stressed, CIA agent played by Kristian Brunn. I kept replaying his scenes because his acting was on another level. I've never seen him in a role before but he can give lessons on how to max out scenes. I had to tell myself 'Get a life' to stop replaying his scenes.
The whole storyline intensified every episode until it was right on a knife's edge. I'm so glad that there will be another season. There has to be, this series is pure genius.
