Lovely post.
Thank you for sharing, this post reminds me of the misleading “dolphin-safe” tuna can labels
An incredible view of #dolphins surrounding and eating sardines along the east coast of #SouthAfrica. They herd them into swarms of fish known as "bait balls" which you can follow by boat by looking for diving sea birds.
Every year this happens, one of the world's great #marine bio-migrations, yet very few people even know it exists. Also, the Wild Coast of South Africa is absolutely beautiful and, as the name implies, undeveloped and wild. Who wants to come?
Unfortunately #climatechange is threatening this migration as ocean temperatures and currents fluctuate. Most fishermen and tour operators will say that the reliability and number of sardines has decreased over the last 10 years. Decreasing fish not only portends wider climatic impacts, but economic impacts on small local communities in the region and small scale fishing operations - more casualties of a looming global #climatecrisis.
