We've been saying since forever to stop comparing us to random objects or animals or other non-human things but in the end, it's always "learn to take a joke," "it's harmless," etc etc. It's NOT harmless. This is what it leads to.
I wish people understood it better that objectification of women indeed leads to dehumanisation and violence. A man calling his daughter his property and violently dragging her through the streets to show off his claims is just one instance of how it affects us.
Women face it at home, on roads, at workplaces, in random pubs and clubs, at schools and colleges and wherenot. It's high time we put a stop to it.
