The Supreme Court has started hearing the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The apex court took suo motu cognizance of the case of rape and murder of a junior doctor and vandalism in the hospital. The bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud included Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. The bench expressed concern over the disclosure of the identity of the victim in this case. It also raised questions from the police investigation to the role of RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandeep Ghosh. The court decided to form an eight-member task force in the case. Apart from AIIMS Director Dr. M Srinivasan, the names of many other doctors were included in it. 'We are concerned about the safety of doctors' During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that this is not just a murder case. We are concerned about the safety of doctors. The bench said that women are being deprived of security. The bench said that how will doctors work in such circumstances. We have seen that in many places there are not even rest rooms for them. Today, women are increasingly joining the workplace. We cannot wait for another rape to ensure their safety and bring about change. The risk of violence in the medical profession has increased. Due to male-dominated thinking, women doctors are more often targeted.
